Dominick Cristofori D’Alessandro is a Philadelphia based pianist and piano teacher. He recently graduated from Temple University with a Master of Music in Piano Performance and Piano Pedagogy degree. At Temple, Dominick worked as a graduate teaching assistant in the Keyboard Department of the Boyer College of Music and Dance. In May 2022, he was awarded the Helen Kwalwasser and Harvey Wedeen Scholarship. As a student of Dr. Charles Abramovic, Dominick will continue his education at Temple in the fall in the Professional Studies Certificate program. He began piano lessons at age three under the musical supervision of Cynthia Stuccio D’Alessandro and went on to study with Alexander Fiorillo, Professor Emeritus at Temple University.
In May 2021, Dominick received a Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance and a Minor in Music Theory from the Benjamin T. Rome School of Music, Drama, and Art at the Catholic University of America. He graduated Summa Cum Laude and received the Outstanding Artistic Achievement Award in Piano Performance. In April 2020, Dominick was granted the prestigious Presser Undergraduate Scholar Award for academic and musical excellence from the Presser Foundation* in Philadelphia.
At Catholic University, Dominick was a student of Dr. Ivo Kaltchev and participated in piano performances during the Cosmopolitan Clavier Concert Series throughout the Washington, DC, Maryland, Virginia, and New Jersey areas. He sang in the Chamber Choir and had his article, “Liszt Piano Sonata in B-minor, S. 178: An Analysis of Advancements in Sonata Form,” selected to be published in Inventio, Catholic University’s student research journal.
In July 2019, Dominick performed in Bardonecchia, Italy at the Accademia di Musica Pinerolo Musica d’Estate festival, where he worked with pianist Roberto Plano. Dominick earned the 2018 Luciana Montanari-Mendola Award, sponsored by the Italian Cultural Society of Washington, DC, and in 2017, the Marion Munson Scholarship Award from the Mozart Club of Wilkes-Barre, PA. He was inducted into the Phi Eta Sigma Academic Honor Society in November 2018 and the Pi Kappa Lambda Music Honor Society in May 2021.
Dominick was selected to perform in a masterclass with legendary pianist Gary Graffman in December 2019. He has also participated in masterclasses with Nelita True, Dr. Xun Pan, Young-Ah Tak, and Michael McHale. Dominick received Honorable Mention in the 2020 Lancaster International Piano Festival Competition and is a four-time winner of the Anne Liva Young Artists Piano Competition sponsored by the NEPA Music Teachers National Association.
