Dr. Samuel Schreiber is a musician and educator based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He is currently the Clarinet Teaching Artist for The Philadelphia Orchestra’s school ensemble program. Additionally, he teaches private clarinet, flute and saxophone lessons at Germantown Friends School and at the Nelly Berman School of Music. During the summer, he is on the clarinet faculty at Interlochen Arts Camp.
Dr. Schreiber’s teaching philosophy is to invite the ‘musician inside’ to guide the instrumentalist. This helps us to discover our own individual voice so we can deliver a clear, confident, and informed musical message. Each musician has the potential to craft a beautifully unique sound and it is our goal to create healthy habits to nurture that process!
He currently performs with the Pennsylvania Chamber Orchestra and Berks Sinfonietta, a chamber orchestra in his hometown of Reading, PA. Additionally he is the principal clarinetist of the Philadelphia Wind Symphony. He has previously performed with orchestras like the Pennsylvania Philharmonic Orchestra, Reading Pops Orchestra, Baton Rouge Symphony Orchestra, Acadiana Symphony Orchestra, Penn’s Woods Music Festival Orchestra, Banff Festival Orchestra, New Jersey Light Opera, New Orleans Opera, and Opera Louisiane. He has also performed in chamber music residencies at the Banff Centre in Canada, Siena Summer Music Festival in Italy, and Zodiac Music Academy & Festival in France.
Dr. Schreiber holds degrees in clarinet performance from Louisiana State University and the Indiana University of Pennsylvania. His primary clarinet teachers include Deborah Chodacki, John Kuehn, and Janine Thomas.
