Clarinet Faculty

Dr. Kate Young completed her Doctorate of Musical Arts and Master of Music degrees in Clarinet Performance at Louisiana State University and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Brain and Cognitive Science and Music from the University of Rochester, where she studied privately at the Eastman School. While living in Louisiana, she served the have served as the Adjunct Instructor of Clarinet and Saxophone at Louisiana College, maintained a large private studio, and performed with the Baton Rouge Symphony, Acadiana Symphony, and Opera Louisiane Company.

She stays active professionally with regular masterclasses, guest artist appearances, and lectures. In the past year she made appearances in Colorado, Montana, Maryland, Hammond and Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and Spain. In her private studio of 27 students ranging from fifth grade to high school seniors. She has over 10 years of experience teaching privately and enjoy tailoring each lesson experience to the goals of each student. She was known in Louisiana for pushing my students to succeed and they frequently placed in All State and honor bands, received perfect scores on their solo competitions, became leaders and drum majors of their school band programs, and went on to win scholarships for university music programs.
